The articles are fascinating. The comments are out of place. Saying "the enemies of reform have already won" is premature. If single payer advocates cannot mobilize enough public out rage across the country to impact politics we deserve to loose. The issue is more alive now than ever. We are the only alternative with a public grassroots constituency. Obama needs to both expand coverage to universal (because his as yet unarticulated intrinsic support for poor people and minorities) AND save money. To save money he has to really massively change insurance company habits or get a public program. Surely Medicare for All would be optimal. Our promotion of HR676 sends a big message: Against "free market" ineffectiveness and inefficiency, for social justice, against for profit exploitation, and for the moral requirements of a mature country. Surely the powers arrayed against this are huge and on a roll. It is our job to upend them.
