Reproductive health researcher and Planned Parenthood of Montana Chief Medical Officer Dr. Samuel Dickman appeared on “The Katie Phang Show” on MSNBC on January 27, 2024. Dr. Dickman discussed his recent study in JAMA Internal Medicine, which estimated nearly 65,000 pregnancies related to sexual assault in the 14 states that have outlawed abortion following the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
“I wish research like this wasn’t necessary,” said Dr. Dickman, who also urged for the bans to be reversed. “I wish that sexual violence was not so common, and that survivors were able to access medical care.”
