The Oregon Health Authority has selected RAND Corp. to conduct an independent study of different ways of configuring Oregonās health care system, including a single-payer model.
If negotiations are successful, OHA intends to award a contract to RAND, the highest-ranked proposer, according to a memo from a procurement and contract specialist at the Department of Human Services.
Dr. Sam Metz, a Portland anesthesiologist, has advocated for the study ā and a single-payer system ā for several years.
