An organizational meeting for a new Southeast Tennessee chapter of Physicians for a National Health Program was held Thursday evening at Foodworks.
Founded in 1987, PNHP believes that access to high-quality health care is a right of all people and should be provided equitably as a public service rather than bought and sold as a commodity. It advocates for a universal, comprehensive single-payer national health program and has more than 19,000 members and chapters across the U.S.
Attendees included a physician-in-training, medical educators, and practicing and senior physicians. They discussed organizational matters, future meetings and the development of a speakerās bureau for local presentations.
