Fox News must have been somewhat upset during the town hall with Sen. Bernie Sanders on April 15 (“Fox draws nearly 2.6 million viewers for Sanders town hall,” April 16). Moderator Bret Baier asked audience members to raise their hands if they would trade their employer insurance for improved Medicare for All. The audience responded affirmatively with a large show of hands. I hope that the Democratic Party leadership tuned in to this town hall and also saw that the truth about Medicare for All is spreading.
Every year, 66 million Americans change jobs and must switch health care plans, if they are even offered employer health insurance at the new job. Many people who don’t change jobs see their costs increase. In my position as a small business owner, the plans change from year to year with premiums that rose 6.2 percent in 2019.
The Fox town hall hosts tried to attack Sanders because he is supporting free health care. As Sanders stated, the health care would be free when delivered without a copay or deductible but would be paid for by a combination of progressive taxes, a Wall Street tax on transactions, or taxes on corporations that not only pay no taxes but receive government subsidies. Health care should be a human right not a privilege.
