Universal health care local group's preference

Recently, my wife and I attended one of the meetings requested by Barack Obama to create a document advising the Obama team on health-care action to be taken by the new administration. About a dozen of us met at the Scottish Rites center in Lake Worth, a meeting which had been organized by a retired physician.
I have read about similar meetings around the country, and our result was similar to the others. The consensus was for single-payer, universal health care (improved Medicare for all) although, when one of the attendees broached the subject, several of the others didn’t recognize the concept. By the end of the meeting, the convener was authorized to say in the letter to be submitted that this group recommended the adoption of a single-payer system as described in HR 676, the bill authored by Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., and co-sponsored by 93 representatives.
