1. Call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your representative
- Telephone calls are taken by a staff person. If your representative is not available, ask to speak with the staffer who handles health policy.
- Tell the staff person that you are a constituent and would like to leave a brief message.
- “Please tell Representative _____ that I support HR 676, ‘Expanded and Improved Medicare for All.’”
2. Here’s a list of current cosponsors of HR 676. If they are a cosponsor, thank them for their support. If they are not currently a cosponsor, ask them to, and add why you support it:
- “I support Medicare for all because health care should be treated as a human right.”
- “Even after the Affordable Care Act is implemented, 30 million people will remain uninsured in the U.S.”
- “The U.S. spends more on healthcare per person than any other country—We pay for universal health care, but we don’t get it.”
