Re: (“Grueter: Is valley health care on life support?” June 9, Aspen Daily News).
You can run but you can’t hide. Yes, health care in our beautiful Roaring Fork Valley is on life support, as it is across the entire country. People in all socioeconomic class levels are falling through the cracks by the millions every day, going without needed care and going bankrupt for care they can’t avoid.
Several well-intended local agencies like Valley Health Alliance, West Mountain Regional Health Alliance and Mountain Family Health Centers do their best to arrange care for folks, but to do anything really effective is going to require a national fix like “Medicare for All.” We can afford it; almost everyone will pay less than they do currently; care will still be delivered privately and all of us will have the peace of mind that our healthcare needs will be taken care of.
There’s not a single, valid reason not to have Medicare for All. We all deserve it. Demand it of all of your elected representatives.
