Columnist Froma Harrop is absolutely correct regarding the complexities that pervade the arcane world of America’s health insurance [“Obamacare should be less complex,” Opinion, March 29]. Although Obamacare is to be saluted for having made insurance coverage available to so many who had not had it before, it is still for a great number of citizens an incomprehensible and convoluted affair.
There is a solution to the vagaries of medical insurance: the development of a comprehensive national health policy that would impose a single-payer system, provide medical access to everyone, be simple and easily understood, and would take the greedy corporate profiteering of the private insurance industry out of the equation.
A single-payer system is what this nation desperately needs to mend the macaronic insurance mess.
