Faced with escalating losses, Aetna and several other major insurance companies have announced that they will stop selling individual Obamacare plans next year in 11 states. This predicament highlights the folly of having a health care payment system based on for-profit insurance companies. The money collected from insurance premiums should not contribute toward the profit of a company, but instead should be applied to the health care needs of those covered. The solution is that the U.S. should adopt a single-payer health care system. Every other industrialized country in the world already has.
