I guess I’m supposed to laugh when I see the cutie-pie anti-Amendment 69 ad that has been popping up on TV — but the only reaction I seem to be having is my blood pressure rising. The big-money, fact-distorting ad tries to scare us with the specter of state bureaucrats running health care — but leaves out the fact that health care is now run by for-profit corporate bureaucrats who fundamentally make their money by not providing health care — a huge, huge incentive to provide as little money as possible for care and keep as much as they can for themselves.
Before taking the heavily biased advice of some superficial ad on TV, you might want to try a few things first: Google “best medical systems in the world.” I believe you will find a vast majority of systems more in line with what Amendment 69 is proposing 1 than with the system we have now that siphons off money for sky-high administration costs. While you are at it, you might try googling “happiest countries”; see any correlation? Finally, get the advice of boots-on-the-ground medical professionals such as those at Physicians for a National Health Program, my son the doctor, and my daughter the pharmacist — all who are sickened by seeing health care money not going for actual care.
I would love to see the pro-Amendment 69 people counter with their own ad — maybe something with vampires? Vote yes on Amendment 69! Hey, even Donald Trump has been quoted as being in favor of the concept. 2
