PNHP-Oregon leader Dr. Samuel Metz pushed back against public option proponents who claim improved Medicare for All isn’t necessary to achieve the goals of health care reform.
“We cannot have an optional single-payer plan,” he said, “because that means there are other payers and we lose the vast administrative efficiency and cost savings of having just one payer for all of health care. That’s how single payer provides better care to more people for less money.”
