Letter to the Editor
The Tennessean, Jan. 20, 2010
Jack Irby of Smyrna is to be applauded for his stand on the issue of health care for Americans as being a right and not a privilege.
He is on solid, rational ground when he concludes that the evidence is overwhelming that we must end the private insurance domination of health care in our country and move toward a publicly financed, single-payer Medicare for all approach.
Unfortunately, our Congress and the leadership in the White House “just don’t get it.” More likely, campaign financing dollars trump reason in America.
In either case, the meager progress so far made in the name of “reform” represents a shamefully disappointing effort.
